The two most important days of your life are giving your life to Jesus Christ, and the day you realize your purpose. Many Christians live aimlessly because they do not know their purpose in life. They believe in Jesus, get baptized, and become "church goers." Trust me, there is more to your purpose than just going to church!
To know your purpose, understand that God already has one for you. In Jeremiah 29:11 God says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has a unique plan for each of our lives. God's plan does not require us to spend energies trying to be like someone else, or "copy" their plan into your life. Also, there is no failure when you walk in the plan God has for you.
God's plan for us is better than our plan for us. So how do we know God's plan is for our lives? Psalm 119:105 says "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." This means we must diligently read and studying the Bible. The answer to your purpose is in the Bible. Jesus says in Matthew 7:7-8 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." From what Jesus is saying, to know your purpose, you must be willing to persistently search the scriptures to find your purpose and be patient as you discover what your purpose is. This includes praying to God daily, in Jesus' name, asking God to help you find your purpose.
Finally, James 2:17 says "faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." We have faith that God will help us to know our purpose, but that only happens when we are willing to do the work of studying, praying, and volunteering in our local church. Keep studying, keep praying, keep volunteering, and God will help you to see what your purpose in life is.
